I didn't set out to paint the soul. But there it is. Nancy Heart N Soul.

I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in 1990 during college. I didn't expect much. But what came out surprised me it was as if I'd been painting my whole life and had simply forgotten.

I've painted off and on ever since, but always during the moments that mattered most transitions, crises, depression, new beginnings. The canvas became a mirror, reflecting emotions I couldn't yet recognize in myself. Before I knew what I was feeling, the painting did. Art has been my most faithful companion through the hardest seasons of my life.

In every portrait, every painting something beyond technique shows up. A presence. The essence of what is being painted. Whether it's a beloved pet, a person, a feeling, or something that lives between worlds and can't quite be named. I just trust it.

When one of my paintings finds its way to you, it becomes part of your story. That's what I hope you feel when you look at it deep satisfaction. A sense that something true has been captured and is yours to keep forever.
